Rotary Cambridge have reluctantly decided they will no longer publish their annual Cambridgefindit community directory and this website will be closing down on 31 July 2019.
The free publication distributed over the past 20 years has raised more than $1.25 million for the Cambridge community. It has been an important source of information and part of the Cambridge identity for many residents during that time.
Over recent years hard copy directories have been replaced by online information services and while Cambridgefindit launched its own on line version it was unable to compete with these other services.
Increasing demands on Cambridge businesses for their advertising and sponsorship dollar has made it more difficult for business owners to support all the good causes out there and as a result Cambridgefindit has experienced declining revenue and increasing costs. Rotary Cambridge wishes to thank all their advertisers for their support over the years, without them neither the directory or the funds raised for the community would have been possible. They also thank everyone who used the directory and acknowledge that its demise will leave a number of the community without a large print easily accessible source of local information.
Over the years funds from the directory have been used to support Cambridge Community House and Achievement House, purchase tricycles for the Avantidrome, provide the Outdoor Fitness Park on Thornton Road and help many, many charitable and sporting organisations operating in Cambridge and its surrounds.
Rotary Cambridge is committed to serving the community and has a number of fundraising activities and new service projects, including the new Garden Festival held for the first time last year and scheduled to be held again in November this year, and the well-received Taste Waikato cookbook alongside our recently held Bookarama book sale.
Many more activities are planned during the next twelve months covering Rotary’s traditional avenues of service – the community, the international community, youth/new generation, and vocational. To find out more or if you have an interest in joining Rotary Cambridge see: www.rotarycambridge.nz
